Paper Abstract:      One of the limitations of performing statistical power analyses with general purpose software like Excel is the absence of functions for the non-central distributions. We are conducting a research project about the accuracy of the normal approximations presented in Abramovitz and Stegun (1965) that includes these distributions. This paper addresses the case of the non-central Student’s t for which only one formula is presented. The package SPSS was used having in view the development of a wider model to perform statistical power and precision analysis and this kind of evaluation using Microsoft Office as integrator environment.
